Breath Awareness and Intuitive Trauma Informed Breathwork
Louise offers both group and private Breath Awareness and Intuitive Trauma Informed (ITI) Breathwork sessions, face to face and online. Many different cultures around the world have used the breath as an instrument of healing for centuries, and this modality is gaining momentum once again as more people seek different approaches to their healing.
What is the difference between the two approaches?
Breath Awareness
Breath Awareness is the gentle practice of noticing the breath and encouraging more effective breathing techniques. The focus is on observation, curiosity, and presence. During the guided practice we return our attention to the breath whenever the mind wanders and through repeating certain breathing techniques we can bring the body into the beautiful ‘rest and digest’ state, activating our parasympathetic nervous system.
Breath Awareness can be practised seated or lying down. It brings benefits such as calming the nervous system, reducing stress/anxiety and mental overwhelm, improving focus and emotional regulation, whilst building mindfulness and self-awareness. It also proves a gentle entry point for people new to Intuitive Trauma Informed Breathwork.
Breath Awareness is suitable for most people, including those who may feel unsafe with more active breathing techniques. It is especially valuable as a foundational practice, helping people reconnect safely with their body and inner experience.
ITI Breathwork
Intuitive Trauma Informed Breathwork (ITI Breathwork) is an approach to breathwork that prioritises safety, choice, and nervous system regulation. It recognises that trauma, whether it be caused through multiple or single micro or macro traumas, if not resolved at the time, can be supressed resulting in negative energy held within the body. Over time this energy can cause stiffness, pain and dis-ease. Through facilitated practice, involving a range of regulated breathing patterns adapted to meet each person where they are, ITI Breathwork can activate emotional and/or physiological responses to aid the body to release the negative energy held within.
ITI Breathwork supports nervous system regulation, helps reduce symptoms of anxiety, stress, and hypervigilance. It encourages embodiment and reconnection with bodily sensations thus supporting emotional resilience and self-trust, building a sense of safety within the body.
As such, ITI Breathwork can be of benefit to people who have experienced a wide range or micro and macro trauma, stress, or chronic overwhelm and is a complementary support alongside counselling or therapy.
How They Work Together
Breath Awareness and Intuitive Trauma Informed Breathwork are deeply complementary: Breath Awareness builds presence, mindfulness, and trust in the breath, where ITI Breathwork offers structured support for regulation and healing. Together, they create a compassionate, accessible pathway for wellbeing that supports both mind and body — gently, respectfully, and safely.

Breath Awareness Journeys – These sessions are offered both private (one on one) and in group sessions. 2026 Sessions will run March. Allow 1 – 1.5 hours
Cost:
Group sessions – $30 - $50 depending on group size.
Private sessions – $122
Group Breath Awareness Sound Journeys - will be held monthly from March and will involve a Breath Awareness Journey followed by a Sound Journey involving several instruments played to complement the Breath Awareness Journey to take the experience a little bit deeper. Allow 1 – 1.5 hours.
Cost:

Intuitive Trauma Informed Breathwork Journeys are available both privately and as small group sessions. Allow 2.5 hours. The journeys include optional pre and post session phone support.

Group sessions - $60 to $90 depending on group size
